BIM Contest 2017
The competition addressed to young architects, invited to propose a housing and retail project to rethink the urban center of Saint Prix, municipality of Île-de-France. The challenge was to contribute to the urban renewal process desired by the municipality itself, to provide the city with new residential and commercial buildings at the service of the community. With a total of 150 residences, new parking areas, public spaces for pedestrian use and a small public square, the request was to create a digital BIM model of the project, in order to show its potential from a compositional point of view.
REACT, among the finalists, proposed innovative and strongly identifying solutions. The BIM has allowed to make improvements to the project from the early stages, analyzing the relationship between buildings and context.
The interventions focused primarily on the realization of the new public space: the square. The choice was to respect the consolidated habits of the citizens, reconfirming the natural aggregation city barycentre, now made up of the church and the space in front. For building types, the theme of the “court” was proposed, to better connect with the context and to equip the buildings with new private spaces. Thanks to BIM, a series of energy analyzes were conducted to identify the best exposure of buildings, the relationship with solar radiation and the evaluation of wind actions and effects. In this way we have been able to reduce consumption and guarantee thermal comfort.
