The Ciampino International Airport has financed a project for the redevelopment and expansion of the new General Aviation Terminal, in order to provide the airport with an area dedicated to private companies and aircraft.

The “G. B. Pastine” Ciampino Airport, located to the south-east of the capital, is today dedicated to the traffic of Point-to-Point passengers, General Aviation and traffic linked to military operations. Consisting of two terminals, it can count on a runway and 92 pitches for aircraft and helicopter parking, as well as “air side” and “land side” support structures. The redevelopment and modernization project for the new terminal provides a total area of ​​3000 square meters, on which will insist a structure characterized by different ages. The first (land side), a reinforced concrete building of the ’50s, which performs the functions of entry, reception and technical office; the second (air side), a prefabricated steel building dating back to the 90s, with commercial spaces, VIP lounges and operational offices.

REACT created a BIM model of the existing structures and, through the BIM Management activity, has supported the preliminary, definitive and executive planning activities for the new General Aviation Terminal.

To support the designers in all phases and levels of design, a multidisciplinary model was created for architecture, structures and systems. Implementing it until the LOD 400 (UNI 11337-4 standard), we have coordinated the disciplines with cycles of continuous reviews, through the validation of the model and of the information contents. In this way we have been able to guarantee the correct realization of the work, avoiding unforeseen events or interruptions of activity. Finally, we used the model during construction phases, in order to optimize the company’s activities and avoid dynamic interference.
