The Fondazione Roma, based in the historic building of Palazzo Sciarra, chosen to adopt the BIM for the management of the museum and its prestigious historic rooms.

The building, built in the second half of the sixteenth century, represents for the city of Rome an architectural and artistic reference of great importance. With a façade framed by rusticated cantonals, the building is characterized by an arched portal preceded by two Doric columns supporting the balustrade central balcony. Reduced and expanded at the end of the 19th century, today it also includes the famous Galleria Sciarra and the Teatro Quirino. After passing several owners to the Cassa di Risparmio di Roma, he has recently undergone great consolidation and restoration works.

BIMon, the REACT partner company, created a BIM model to manage the complexity of the architectural solutions and to guarantee the correct quantification of the interventions.

For the management and maintenance activities for a building of this value, the client chosen to use a BIM model. It was requested, in fact, to carry out an “as built” model, in order to provide a complete and interdisciplinary reference, from which to extract all the information necessary for the preparation of exhibitions, set-ups and maintenance operations. The modeling was very accurate and required particular effort and attention, especially as it relates to a very important historical building. Characteristic elements such as vaults, stripped walls and moldings have been meticulously reproduced in order to obtain a faithful graphic return. Furthermore, a series of outputs and information resulting from the model were fundamental for correctly quantifying all the activities related to management.
